Why choose Thule SquareBar Evo roof bars over the WingBar ranges?

The most obvious reason is price, SquareBar Evo bars are much more budget-friendly than their WingBar counterparts. If you’re only using your roof bars once or twice a year, then the SquareBar Evo range is something to consider. Being corrosion-resistant makes them more ideal for town/city life than long adventures. If you’re making small trips and require roof bars for work-related reasons then the SquareBar Evo range is a great essential for carrying a few bulky items to your destination (e.g. ladders, ropes, mid-weight equipment).

What parts make up a Thule SquareBar Evo roof bar system?

The Thule SquareBar Evo roof bar series requires four separate parts to enable you to assemble the full kit to your car. This includes the galvanised steel bars that sit across the top of your car, the feet to attach the bar to sides of your car roof, a fitting kit that enables you to put the kit together securely and locks to secure the roof bar system into place and to remove the bars when not in use. To take the hassle away from finding what those parts are, we’ve created Thule SquareBar Evo bundles that fit a range of car makes and models. All you need to do is pop your car registration into the yellow box at the top of the page and we’ll list all the roof bar bundles that are tailored to fit your car.

What is the weight limit of the Thule SquareBar Evo roof bar?

The Thule SquareBar Evo can carry anywhere between 60kg and 100kg worth of weight when the car is in motion, this is purely dependent on the vehicle size, and we’ve indicated on the roof bar sets the maximum load the SquareBar Evo can carry. We also recommend checking your car manufacturer guide to double check that your vehicle can also manage this much load when on the road, if this is less than the load specified you can still use the Thule SquareBar Evoe roof bar system, but we’d recommend following the lower load if your car manufacture recommends it.

How do you install Thule SquareBar Evo roof bars to your car?

The Thule SquareBar Evo are quick to assemble, you’ll find engraved markings on base to help you with the positioning, the Evo Foot pack also has an ergonomic torque limiter key that indicates when the rack is safely and properly secured to the roof of your car. Locks and keys are supplied with each of our SquareBar Evo sets and it’s important to note that these bars do not accept t-track fittings (due to the square nature of the bars they differ to the WingBar ranges). If you’re pairing the Thule SquareBar Evo roof bars with a roof mounted bike rack or other transportation carrier you may need an adaptor to ensure they are connected securely.

Can I buy the parts for a Thule SquareBar Evo individually?

If you’ve done your research and know the roof bar width, the feet pack sizes, the correct fitting kit and locks to put together the system yourself you can build your own package (although buying our pre-built sets will be the more affordable option). However, if you’ve recently invested in a new car and want to use your existing Thule SquareBar Evo roof bars on it then you could potentially carry some of those parts over and replace the elements that are missing. Get in touch with us if this is the case and we’ll be able to advise what parts fit your new vehicle and if any current parts can be used on it. Moreover, if an existing part is damaged, we sell the parts individually, so you don’t have to fork out for a new roof bar system again.

Are Thule SquareBar Evo roof bars noisy?

The Thule SquareBar Evo series is not known to cause too much nuisance in terms of whistling when on the road and noise should almost be non-existent under 50mph. If you’re experiencing a high-pitched whistle that’s distracting, then there could be something wrong with the setup of your bars. There could be a gap somewhere within the foot pack or between the rubber seals, so do double-check.
